As per the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Grih Mantralaya) serves as the nodal ministry responsible for coordinating activities for further progression of Ex-Agniveers. In line with this responsibility, the Agniveer Career Progression has been conceptualized as a comprehensive digital platform to support the effective career progression of Ex-Agniveers by enabling a seamless transition from military service to civilian employment opportunities.
The Agnipath Scheme, launched by the Government of India in June 2022, marks a significant transformation in the nation's Defence recruitment strategy. The scheme engages youth aged 17.5 to 21 years for a four-year tenure, during which they undergo intensive technical, combat and behavioral training, fostering discipline, leadership and adaptability. At present, upon completion of service, 25% of Agniveer are inducted into the regular cadre based on merit, while the remaining 75% exit the force equipped with valuable professional and life skills, ready to contribute to the civilian workforce.
The Primary objective of Agniveer Career Progression is to establish a unified national platform that consolidates data of Ex-Agniveer and integrate with recruitment, skill mapping and employment process across various Ministries and agencies.
